SAFE ENVIRONMENT POLICY

The Diocesan Safe Environment Policy is a three-pronged effort to ensure the safety of all who work, worship, or participate in activities at Our Lady of Grace Parish and School. It includes:

1. Recognizing risk factors and concerning behaviors associated with child abuse by mandating screening of all adults who work with children and young people on a regular basis or adults who are with children who are not under the direct supervision of a teacher.

2. Understanding the responsibility or obligation to report concerns by ongoing training of parents, educators, volunteers, church ministers, and others regularly involved with minors as to the issue of child abuse, including sexual abuse.

3. Teaching children rules for reducing the risks for abuse and for telling a parent or trusted adult if they are abused. The school implements the diocesan provided “No-Go-Tell” program, using age-appropriate education pertaining to children’s personal safety and with direction as to when they should seek assistance from a trusted adult.


VOLUNTEERS

Effective today, July 1, 2026, new California volunteer requirements under State Bill 848 are now in effect. Our Lady of Grace  Catholic School is working closely with the State of California, the Diocese of San Diego, and our parish to ensure full compliance with these new regulations.

 

Because these requirements impact all California schools—both public and private—processing times are expected to be significantly longer than in previous years. We strongly encourage every parent who plans to volunteer during the 2026–2027 school year to begin the clearance process now. Waiting until shortly before a field trip, classroom event, or other volunteer opportunity will result in delays that prevent clearance in time to participate.

• Mandated Reporter Training for ALL volunteers

If you log into your existing CMG Connect account and discover that you cannot access it or that it appears to have been archived, please do not create a new or secondary account. Creating a duplicate account will delay your clearance and require additional time to merge records. Instead, please contact the parish office (619) 469-0133 so they can assist you.

 

We are also finalizing our roster in the California Mandated Reporter Training system. Once your information has been uploaded, you will receive an invitation via email to complete the required online training. Please wait for this invitation before attempting to register independently.

 

To recognize the time required to complete the new state-mandated training, the approximately two hours spent completing the Mandated Reporter course will count toward your required family service hours for the 2026–2027 school year. As a reminder, service hour requirements must be fulfilled by February 2027 in order to receive a 2027–2028 Enrollment Agreement.

 

Most importantly, please complete and submit the Volunteer Registration Form. This form initiates the annual volunteer clearance process and should be completed as soon as possible.
