Spanish

At Our Lady of Grace Catholic School, students begin their journey as global citizens through our vibrant, age-appropriate Spanish program.

Our Spanish program opens the door to language, culture, and global awareness. Aligned with the California World Language Content Standards, our K–8 curriculum introduces students to Spanish through meaningful, age-appropriate instruction that builds communication skills and cultural understanding over time.

In Grades K–2, students are introduced to basic vocabulary, simple phrases, and everyday expressions through songs, games, and stories. Lessons focus on listening and speaking skills while fostering enthusiasm for language learning.

In Grades 3–5, students expand their vocabulary and begin forming complete sentences, responding to questions, and engaging in short conversations. Reading and writing skills are introduced, and students explore traditions, holidays, and customs from Spanish-speaking cultures.

In Grades 6–8, students build on prior knowledge with a more structured study of grammar, conversation, and cultural exploration. They read and write in Spanish with greater complexity, participate in dialogues, and explore geography, history, and the diverse communities of the Spanish-speaking world.

Through interactive lessons and cultural experiences, our Spanish program encourages communication, connection, and appreciation for the richness of the global community—all while laying the foundation for future language fluency.
