Fifth Grade
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to fifth grade!  I'm so grateful to have your children this year, and I'm excited to work with them.

No one knows your child better than you do. You are the parent and primary educator of your child, so your perception of my student is a valuable resource. The more I know and understand about your child, the more effective I can be as a teacher.

I would appreciate your participation in a “parent homework assignment” that will be of great value to me. As we begin this school year, please email me a letter introducing your child.  (  This can be as long or as short as you would like.

You might want to include a brief biography, challenges, special abilities, fears, favorites, strengths, weaknesses, or past school experiences. You could also tell me about your expectations for this school year: from me, from your child, and from the school. Include any information that you want me to keep in mind while I work with your child.

I am looking forward to reading your letters and will respond to any issues and/or concerns during the fall conferences.  Thank you for taking part in this important assignment.
